Few rice varieties have shaped Spanish cuisine like Bomba paella rice. Cultivated on the Iberian Peninsula since the Middle Ages and preserved through careful selection in Valencia for nearly a century, this grain represents one of the most respected traditions in paella cooking.

The grain is short, rounded and naturally pearled in appearance. During cooking, it expands to more than twice its original size while maintaining its structure, allowing it to absorb large quantities of stock without splitting or becoming soft. This unique behaviour lets flavours and aromas develop fully, while the rice remains loose, defined and precise on the plate.

Often referred to as Arroz bomba, this variety has long been valued for its reliability and control during cooking. Its ability to stay at its point, even with extended absorption, makes it especially suited to paella and other Spanish rice dishes where texture and flavour clarity are essential. Produced in limited quantities due to the delicacy of its cultivation, Bomba paella rice continues to be regarded by chefs as one of the great reference grains of Spanish gastronomy.
